About TASAI

Our story, our purpose

Every association begins with a need; ours began with a longing. TASAI exists so that no Tanzanian student in Indonesia ever has to begin the journey alone.

Our story

A home away from home

Tanzanian students arriving in Indonesia, pursuing engineering, medicine, economics or Islamic studies in cities scattered across seventeen thousand islands, often found themselves thousands of kilometres from home, navigating a new language, culture and academic system alone.

TASAI was born so that no Tanzanian student would ever have to begin that journey alone again. Formally constituted in 2025 and headquartered at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Jakarta, TASAI is a home away from home, a community anchored in unity, brotherhood, equality, solidarity and accountability.

We believe that discipline and integrity are the foundation of an education that truly serves society, and that success is achieved by putting unity, kinship and love first.

Our motto

"One Voice, One Community"

Sauti Moja, Jumuiya Moja

Our Mission

To unite, guide and empower Tanzanian students and alumni across Indonesia by championing education, defending members' interests, nurturing ethical leadership, and deepening the bonds between Tanzania and Indonesia.

We study abroad, but our hearts build Tanzania.

What we do

Eight ways we serve our members

We unite Tanzanians who are studying and those who have completed their studies in Indonesia, from Medan to Makassar.

We welcome and mentor every new Tanzanian student beginning their academic journey here.

We advocate for the academic, legal and social interests of our members.

We inform, providing accurate guidance about Indonesian institutions to those seeking admission.

We connect governments, embassies and educational institutions of both nations through cooperation.

We grow, organizing workshops, seminars and conferences that build knowledge and capacity.

We serve, participating in community service, public dialogues and development work.

We sustain our mission through responsible resource mobilization.
